IMPROV & THEATRE GAMES (ages 7-10)

Improv is an INCREDIBLE way for kids to build skills that are not only useful in theatre, but in life – active listening, respect, collaboration, shifting perspectives and body awareness to name a few! We teach kids how to ground themselves in space and gain awareness of their own systems – how to settle them, and how to break them free. Improv is the magic ingredient that allows everyone to engage in a collective experience, providing a stress-free outlet for their creative energy and ideas.

FULL PRODUCTIONS (ages 8-12)

Wednesdays, from 4:30-6:30pm at The Wychwood Theatre at Wychwood Barns.

In a beautiful professional theatre space, kids work together to create a full-scale production of a well-known musical, complete with lights, sets, and costumes. The program runs all year long in three sessions, each with a specific focus:

FALL: We use improv /theatre games, body awareness/movement,  voice technique and scene study, to help students dive deep into the characters, the storytelling, and the score. Kids learn to be a good acting partners,  to break down text to find meaning, to inhabit different characters, and how to find their physical power and authentic voice.

WINTER: Students use the skills they’ve built to audition for the parts they’re interested in. In December, the show is cast! Kids get their parts and scripts, and have 3 weeks over the winter break to learn their lines. Then in January, rehearsals begin! Using a greater understanding of the show (and themselves!) students learn their vocal parts, staging and choreography.

SPRING: All of the learning, relationship building and hard work culminates in multiple performances for their family and friends.

*There are no rehearsals over Christmas or March Break

COST: $795+HST *50% due upon registration to secure the spot. The remainder can be invoiced monthly, per session, or all at once in October. See our REFUND POLICY for more details.

*There is currently a waitlist for this program. Please register to have your child’s name added to it and we will let you know as soon as a spot becomes available.
